  • Eight Grade (2018)
  • Three Identical Strangers (2018)

The Good:

I was finally able to get around to a couple documentaries that people have been taking about on different podcasts, Three Identical Strangers and Won’t You Be My Neighbor. Both were good but only one was loved and it was the one that focused on the lovable Fred Rogers. Won’t You Be My Neighbor is a deep dive into Fred Rogers life and his time with PBS. It’s a heartwarming movie that may need to be accompanied by with a box of tissues. Such a wonderful man.

Grade A

The Bad:

Unfortunately this honor must be bestowed upon… The Meg. Yikes. Now, I didn’t expect it to be the second coming of Jaws but I also expected more than Sharknado with a better budget and imagery. No denying that this movie is beautifully shot at times, but theres also no denying this movie is extremely corny as well. Now, unlike Skyscraper… The Meg owns it. Knows what it is and has fun with it. Unfortunately, it still didn’t work for me at all.

What I Watched in September 2013

Movies:

    • Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
    • That’s My Boy (2012)
    • This Is The End (2013)
    • Brave (2012)

The Good:

The good has to be Zero Dark Thirty and thats not saying the other two are bad. This Is The End is very funny and I will get to Brave in a second. Kathryn Bigelow takes her talents back to the battlefield of war as she did in 2008 with The Hurt Locker, which was my favorite film of 2008. Jessica Chastain delivers a great performance in this retelling of the events that took place in May of 2011. The night when Seal Team 6 ended the long hunt for Osama bin-Laden. 8/10 for me.

The Bad:

That’s My Boy was unsurprisingly a dud. Adam Sandler is comedy legend that has gone off the rails and Andy Samberg is very hit and miss for me. I didn’t have high hopes for this movie but it did offer up a couple laughs. Time is precious and you shouldn’t waste it on That’s My Boy. I gave it a 4/10 on IMDb.

The Old or Surprising:

Didn’t see a whole lot this month. Nothing old and nothing all that surprising but I will talk about Brave a little. The message and story from Brave make it a must watch, especially for young women. It combines that message with gaelic history and makes for a fun watch. I gave it a 6/10 due to my exceedingly high Pixar expectations.
